Served as the lead staff person for the development of the Empire Center, a 102 acre project with 750,000 sq. ft. of retail/restaurants, 400,000 sq. ft. of office and two hotels.
Provided the primary staff leadership for the development of the Media City Center, a 40 acre, enclosed mall, regional shopping center with 1,500,000sf of leasable space.
Guided the very successful development of the Media District Specific Plan, which resulted in Master Plans for Warner Bros. Studios (3,000,000sf), NBC (1,200,000sf)
and Disney (2,000,000sf)
One of the most catalytic projects for the revitalization of Hollywood was the 350 room W Hotel, built in conjunction with 193 condos, 375 apartments and 50,000sf of retail/restaurants. Ovrom played a key staff role in bringing this project to fruition, both as the CEO of the LA Redevelopment Agency and then Deputy Mayor.
As CEO of the LA Redevelopment Agency and Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, Ovrom also served as a Board Member of the joint City/County Grand Avenue Authority and played a key staff role in the development of the Grand Avenue Master Plan, whose initial project was the iconic $140 million, 120,000sq. ft. Broad Museum.
Served as the primary staff leadership for the major renovation of “Beautiful Downtown Burbank”, now a very successful ‘entertainment district’ with three movie theaters (28 screens), 30 restaurants, retail shops and abundant free public parking.
Guided the land use planning and entitlements for approximately 4,000,000sf of ‘spec’ office space, which included the 32 story Burbank Tower, the 1,200,000sf Media District North high tech business park, and the 600,000sf Pinnacle project (Warner Music).
Oversaw the City planning and entitlements for the Embassy Suites Hotel and adjoining restaurant. Both projects were part of a larger Master Plan Development which included the construction an entirely new Civic Center, with City Hall, Police Department, Central Library and Civic Theater.
Provided the primary leadership for the development of the 29 acre, 380,000sf, subregional shopping center, with an adjoining 9 story hotel and meeting facilities.
Developed and implemented a 7 point revitalization plan for the central business district, which included a comprehensive streetscape project and corresponding storefront rehab, North Anchor neighborhood shopping center, South Anchor office park, Community Center and adjacent higher density residential development.
Served as Mayor Villaraigosa’s point person for the development of LA Live, downtown Los Angeles’ most catalytic project, containing the 1,003 rooms JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotels, the 7,100 seat Microsoft Theater, over 20 restaurants and clubs, 14 screen Regal Cinema, Lucky Strike Bowling, Grammy Museum, ESPN Studios and several other professional offices.
